The City of Yellowknife is excited to offer a range of wellness initiatives to support permanent employees and their families live a healthy lifestyle.

Wellness initiatives the City currently offers include:

• Discount on memberships for City facilities;
• Dog-friendly work environment;
• Corporate gym membership rates;
• Sport, health or fitness equipment refund (maximum $100 per year per employee);
• Promotion of walking meetings;
• Flu shot clinics;
• Smoking cessation program;
• Fitness challenges.

The Recreation Association is an employee-led initiative designed to enhance workplace camaraderie and promote well-being among employees. Funded through staff contributions, this program organizes a variety of recreational activities and social events fostering a sense of community amongst staff. The Recreation Association empowers employees to take the lead in creating a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment where everyone can unwind and connect beyond their professional roles.

Recreation Association activities include:

• Weekly gift card draws;
• Corn Hole tournament and BBQ;
• Halloween dress up, decorating and carving competitions;
• Staff Holiday Party;
• Staff Kids Holiday Party;
• Family events such as movie nights or bowling;
• Holiday fundraising for local food banks;
• Gifting for staff members who are experiencing a major life event.
