Treaty 11

The history and signing of Treaty 11 is a significant milestone to the Dene People following Confederation. This established an economic relationship between the Crown and Indigenous Peoples living in the North. Many to this day commemorate and remember the teachings of negotiations, comprehensive land claims and modern treaties. This was the last treaty of its kind signed on August 22nd 1921.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The City of Yellowknife honours September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as an opportunity for all Yellowknife residents to acknowledge the territory's colonial history and the legacy of residential schools.
