The City of Yellowknife oversees the rental of gymnasiums and fields at local schools during evenings and weekends.

Important Booking Information

  • School gymnasiums are available for Community Groups only
  • Private or personal rentals are not permitted in school gyms
  • Private/personal bookings will be scheduled at the Yellowknife Multiplex Gym instead

Please review all Rules and Guidelines carefully before submitting a rental request for gymnasiums or fields.

School Rental Rules

The following rules apply to all school rentals managed by the City of Yellowknife:
Gymnastic room with equipment

  • Deposits & Cancellations

    • $50 key deposit required at booking
    • 48 hours’ notice required for refund
    • Vacate premises within 15 minutes of end time

  • Facility Rules

    • No smoking, pets, helium balloons, food, or drinks (unless pre-approved)
    • No alcohol permitted
    • Indoor, non-marking shoes required in gyms
    • Equipment not included

  • Responsibility

    Groups are responsible for all participants and any damages.

  • Restrictions

    • No business or for-profit rentals (fees may only offset costs)
    • No bingos, fundraisers, commercial events, banquets, or dances
    • No lacrosse, softball, baseball, football, skateboards, scooters, or rollerblades

Large Gyms: Sir John, St. Pat's, Weledeh

Medium Gyms: J.H. Sissons, Range Lake, St. Joseph, William McDonald, Multiplex

Small Gyms: Mildred Hall, N.J. Macpherson
