Effective immediately, the mandatory local fire ban on open-air fires, which was issued on Friday, July 19, 2024, has been lifted due to recent precipitation and cooler temperatures. A local fire ban may be reinstated if fire danger conditions become extreme and necessitate a ban.
Please practice fire safety at all times, burn responsibly, and ensure your fire is cold before leaving your site. All fires must be in an approved fire pit and require a burn permit. Visit the City’s website for more information on local burn permits. Up to date information on local fire bans can be found online.
Before having a fire, remember:
- Fires must be always supervised and completely extinguished (soaked with water, stirred, and soaked again until cold) before leaving;
- Do not have a fire if there are substantial winds or a fire ban is in effect; and
- Burning yard waste requires a separate permit.
