Yellowknife’s Public Transit buses have been experiencing an unprecedented number of mechanical issues over the past few months due to the age and condition of the current transit fleet.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) has been working with the transit provider to bring a new, more accessible fleet of buses to our community. The City anticipates these buses will be operational for all transit routes (regular and express) in spring 2024. These buses will have accessible features with low floors to allow for an enhanced user experience. There will also be a new bus for the Yellowknife Accessible Transit System (YATS).

We will continue to provide updates to residents on the status of these new buses.
