Tax Payments

The City of Yellowknife would like to remind residents that property taxes can be paid by pre-authorized monthly payments. Signing up for automatic payments helps to ensure that no interest incurs on late payments. The deadline to enroll for pre-authorized monthly payments is January 15 and July 15 of each year.

To sign up for pre-authorized payments, submit the completed pre-authorization form, along with a void cheque, to the City of Yellowknife one of the following ways:

• By email to taxation@yellowknife.ca;
• By fax to 867-920-5649 (no cover sheet required);
• By mail with a cheque to PO Box 580, Yellowknife, NT  X1A 2N4;
• In-person drop off at City Hall; or
• In lieu of submitting the form, residents can also sign up for pre-authorized payments by calling the City at (867) 920-5625.

Please note that in order to sign up for pre-authorized payments, there can be no outstanding payments on your property tax account, including overdue utility balances which have been transferred to your tax account.

On December 31 of each year, overdue utility charges will be transferred to the property owner's tax account. Overdue property tax payments and utility charges that are not settled by the due date will be charged 1.8% interest per month until the amount owing is paid in full.
