The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to advise residents the Solid Waste Facility (SWF) will reopen to the public on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, for its regular hours of 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The facility will resume all of its regular services at that time, including Honey Bucket and Dog Poop disposal. 

For contractors, the SWF will reopen on Monday, March 27, 2023, for regular hours.

Please note the SWF will be closed on Friday, April 7, 2023; Sunday, April 9; and Monday, April 10, for the Easter weekend. It will be open for regular hours on Saturday, April 8.

Blue Bin Recycling stations are being reestablished starting today and throughout the coming week, as staffing allows.

Repairs for black or green carts will be done as staff are available. To report a damaged cart, please contact the City at SWFinfo@yellowknife.ca.  

A reminder to all residents that garbage pick-up will continue the week of March 27.  Organics pick-up (green carts) will begin the week of April 3. After this, the regular bi-weekly rotating schedule will continue (garbage the week of April 10, organics the week of April 17, etc.).

We thank residents for their patience as staff worked diligently over the last week to ensure the SWF could open to the public.
