The City of Yellowknife invites residents to help shape the 2025 budget. Residents can submit project proposal(s) from Wednesday, July 17, 2024 to Friday, August 16, 2024 via an online form on the City’s website.

This new form allows residents to submit a complete project proposal with a cost estimate, giving consideration to Council’s Strategic Directions and to tax and service implications. Residents are asked to complete all sections to the best of their ability. The information collected will allow Council to more easily assess the feasibility of the projects proposed and their alignment with Council’s objectives. Residents are reminded that the City is not permitted to run a deficit budget, and as such, any increased costs associated with the proposals submitted must be funded through a tax increase or a service/program reduction.

*Please note that presentations will now be heard at the October 28, 2024 Council meeting.

How to use the form

There are five steps residents must complete to submit their entry:

  1. Fill out the Contact Information section.
  2. Submit Project Details. This includes a project name, the details of what you would like to see, an estimated cost, and an explanation of how you reached your estimated project total.
  3. Select which of Council’s Strategic Directions the project meets.
  4. Fill out information related to how to fund your project. Would you support a tax increase? If not, where would you like to see service cuts to make funding available for your project?
  5. Submit the form.
