National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

This April, join us in recognizing the unsung heroes who are always there when we need them most. From April 13 to 19, we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honouring the dedicated Dispatchers who serve as the critical link between emergency situations and life-saving responses.

At the City of Yellowknife, our Emergency Dispatchers manage over 6,000 calls each year, coordinating essential services for Fire & Ambulance, Public Works, and our Municipal Enforcement Division. Their work extends far beyond city limits—supporting medivac operations across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, and working with alarm companies to keep homes and businesses secure.

They collaborate seamlessly with key partners such as 9-1-1, MED Response, Keewatin Air, and more—ensuring that help is always just a call away.
