Back to SearchOn Friday, July 19, 2024 at 4:05 p.m., the Yellowknife Fire Division, with assistance from the Government of the Northwest Territories’ Department of Environment and Climate Change, responded to a forest fire 150 meters behind Stanton Territorial Hospital. Upon arrival, crews estimated there to be a 10 square meter fire consisting of pallets, with fire spread into the trees and underbrush within the vicinity.
Personnel successfully contained the fire to the area, deploying hose lines until the fire was extinguished. Overhaul was conducted to ensure the fire was out.
A reminder to residents that there is currently a local and regional fire ban in place. Not following fire bans puts the whole community at risk. Do your part to reduce the risk of wildfires – stay informed and obey all fire bans.
