A City of Yellowknife fire ban will be in effect starting Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on open air burning fire pits and will remain in effect until further notice.
Due to current conditions the area is experiencing, the Yellowknife Fire Division is implementing a fire ban to reduce the risk of wildland fires within city limits.
“The fire ban is a proactive measure to reduce the risk of fires starting from camp fires, bonfires or other open sourced flames within city limits. We all have a role in preventing wildfire,” said Yellowknife Fire Chief, Nelson Johnson.
The fire ban does not affect CSA approved propane fueled pits and barbeques.
