YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES | November 4, 2024
The City of Yellowknife mourns the loss of Justice Murray Sinclair, a trailblazing leader and a tireless advocate for Indigenous rights and reconciliation.
Justice Sinclair’s dedication to uncovering the truths of Canada’s residential school system and his unwavering commitment to justice and equality have been instrumental in fostering a deeper awareness of the historical injustices faced by Indigenous peoples. His efforts have laid the groundwork for meaningful reconciliation, a journey that the City of Yellowknife is committed to continuing. Justice Sinclair’s vision for a just and equitable society will continue to guide our efforts as we work together to build a brighter future for all.
We acknowledge the many individuals who worked alongside Justice Sinclair, including community leaders here in Yellowknife. Our thoughts are with his family and those he was close to personally and professionally during this difficult time.
