The City of Yellowknife (the City) is pleased to announce that the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local X0345 and City Council have ratified a new Collective Agreement. This agreement will take effect on Monday, September 16, 2024, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2027.
“Both parties worked hard for a new collective agreement that meets the needs of City employees while respecting the City’s resource limitations,” said Mayor Rebecca Alty. “The meaningful dialogue throughout the collective bargaining delivered many mutually agreeable enhancements to the collective agreement.”
The agreed upon changes to the collective agreement include the conversion to the City’s new classification system and pay grid, which provides a 2.25% wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2024. The agreement is a 4-year term ending on December 31, 2027, and includes annual 3% increases as listed:
- January 1, 2025 – 3%
- January 1, 2026 – 3%
- January 1, 2027 – 3%
The collective agreement also includes additions to both leave and allowance provisions with respect to rest periods, casual leave, Indigenous cultural leave, parental leave, birth and adoption leave and personal safety footwear. The full details of the changes are included in By-law No. 5091, which is attached to the Council Agenda for Monday, September 16, 2024.
