From climbing aboard a fire truck to learning how to use a fire extinguisher, residents can experience the Yellowknife Fire Division up close at its Open House on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event will feature fire truck rides, a mini combat challenge, fire extinguisher training, face painting, public information booths, food and refreshments, and opportunities to meet firefighters and emergency response partners.
Beyond the activities, the Open House offers residents an opportunity to connect with the Fire Division, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the services and partnerships that support emergency response in Yellowknife.
"One of the things I'm most proud of is the people on this team," said Fire Chief Jason Arns. "The Open House gives residents a chance to see the professionalism, dedication, and heart behind the uniform. We hope it leaves kids inspired, families informed, and residents with a greater appreciation for the people who serve this community every day."
