Canada Day Event
The City of Yellowknife (the City) invites residents to celebrate Canada Day at Somba K’e Civic Plaza on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 12:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During this free event, community members will enjoy family-friendly activities, including a bouncy castle and a balloon artist/magician. There will also be local food vendors and artisans on-site, and live performances.
The City looks forward to bringing the community together to celebrate everyone living in Canada. This event is also an occasion to reflect upon and acknowledge the past, and to highlight our commitment to towards reconciliation.
The City would like to thank Canadian Heritage, as their support has helped to make this event possible.

Canada Day Parade
The City advises residents that there will be road closures (see map below) on Monday, July 1, 2024 for the Canada Day Parade, hosted by the Rotary Club.
The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. in Somba K’e Park (on 49 Avenue) and continue up 49 Street onto Franklin Avenue, finishing at entrance of the Curling Club. Roads along the parade route will be closed from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
