51 Avenue Toboggan Hill Closure

The City of Yellowknife wishes to advise residents that effective Friday, April 10, 2024, the recreational toboggan hill at 51 Avenue between 55 and 54 Streets will be closed for the season.

Please use caution and obey signage while heavy machinery removes the snow from 51 Avenue. Residents can expect the street to be back open to vehicular traffic by 4:00 p.m. For further information, please contact the City at 920-5600.

New Yellowknife Transit Fleet Arrives

The City of Yellowknife, together with Transdev, are pleased to announce the launch of the new Yellowknife Transit Fleet, comprising of eight accessible buses. These buses will soon begin to be incorporated into routes as the City transitions to the new fleet. All Yellowknife transit buses, servicing both regular and express routes, will be fully wheelchair accessible, marking a significant milestone in enhancing transportation accessibility for all residents.

Public notice is hereby given that the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Yellowknife will hold a special meeting of Council at 12:05 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024 in the Council Chamber, City Hall.

On Monday, March 25, Yellowknife City Council declared a half-day civic holiday for Friday, April 5, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. in recognition of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation’s Spring Carnival.

In observance of the half-day civic holiday, City facilities will operate as follows:

  • City Hall: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Solid Waste Facility: Regular Hours
