The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to update residents about the current labour negotiations happening with PSAC Local X0345, represented by the Union of Northern Workers (the Union).

At 12:01 a.m. on February 5, 2023, the City received notice from the Union that the City employees it represents will strike on February 8th, 2023.

Vehicle Fire on Morrison Drive

On Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:37 a.m. the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) received a call for service to a vehicle fire in a detached garage at 48 Morrison Drive.

The Yellowknife Fire Division responded with one fire truck, one water tanker, one ambulance and six firefighters to the incident; and were able to successfully put out the fire.

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is undertaking a review of water and sewer rates and has released an Interim Report that provides recommendations for establishing separate water and sewer rates, while ensuring that these rates are tied to the actual cost of providing water and sewer services. The City of Yellowknife (the City) is happy to inform residents that Click and Fix YK will once again be available to the public to report City related issues as of June 2, 2023.

Click and Fix YK has existed since 2014, providing residents with an App to report issues and help City staff identify problems.  The use of Click and Fix YK helps the City understand where there are service issues so that we can address them as soon as possible and identify  gaps in service delivery.
