Water and Sewer Rate Review

On June 4, 2023, the City of Yellowknife (the City) released an Interim Report with recommendations for rationalizing City water and sewer rates. Residents were encouraged to provide feedback via the City’s PlaceSpeak website by July 4, 2023. A number of comments have been received, and based upon the interest expressed to date, the City is extending the public engagement period to July 21, 2023.

Call For Artists To Design Street Pole Banners

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is seeking artists to submit design concepts to be included on street pole banners hanging from poles located along Old Airport Road.

All forms of artwork are being accepted, however the final version of the artwork must be converted to a digital format. The deadline to submit a draft concept is August 4, 2023. The goal is to accommodate up to 10 unique designs.

2023 Canada Day Parade Road Closure

The City of Yellowknife wishes to advise residents of road closures for the 2023 Rotary Community Parade on Canada Day occurring Saturday, July 1, 2023.

The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. in front of City Hall on Veterans Memorial Drive (49 Avenue), it will then turn right onto 48 Street, and turn right again onto Franklin Avenue (50 Avenue) and continue on Franklin Avenue until it finishes before the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool. The City of Yellowknife invites residents and visitors to come to Somba K’e Civic Plaza on July 1 for a day of free family activities, local food vendors and artisans, and live performances from The Ketchum Quartet, Johnny Cole, Stephen Richardson and many more!

The event will kick off at 1 p.m. with the opening of the Kids Zone. It will feature free face painting, local entertainment by Bella Beats and Yellowknife Gymnastics, and activities like bouncy castles and a balloon artist/magician!
