Our Corporate and Community Energy Action Plan 2015-2025 (CCEAP) is nearing its end! The City is planning for a new Climate Action Plan 2026-2036 with a focus on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The CCEAP helped chart the course towards an energy smart Yellowknife that aimed to reduce the city's GHG emissions with a Northern lens.
The City of Yellowknife worked on reducing its heating costs, dependence on fossil fuels and impact on global climate change.
The City’s Community Energy planning began through our first Plan released in 2006, setting targets for the period of 2004 to 2014. The new Climate Action Plan, from 2026 to 2036, will expand the focus on community energy planning, to add other climate mitigation projects, and develop a climate adaptation plan.
